MOUNT BAKER, Wash. -- The hiker from Bellingham missing for three nights near Baker Lake has been found safe.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s Deputies and Mountain Rescue Volunteers located 69-year-old Albert Filosa in a steep area near Rainbow Ridge yesterday around 11 a.m.
Filosa's daughter, Laura Larrimore, says her father moved to Bellingham after retiring as a violist with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
She says Filosa is an experience hiker.
He was reported missing after he went for a hike alone and didn't return Saturday evening.
He told rescuers he lost the trail and decided to follow a drainage.
He eventually found a cave for shelter. Rescuers say he was hungry but otherwise unhurt.
