RICHMOND, Calif. (Metro) -- An attorney says residents of Richmond, California have "borne the brunt" of a number of explosions at the local Chevron refinery since 1991 and "enough is enough."
Oakland civil rights attorney John Burris and two San Francisco-based lawyers announced a class action lawsuit against the oil giant Wednesday, clamming the August 6 blast was avoidable.
The suit, filed on behalf of nine Richmond residents, not only goes after Chevron for last week's blaze, but for past incidents as well.
More than 1000 people have contacted Burris' law office since the toxic refinery fire.
