MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (Metro) -- The recent warm weather has berry growers and pickers in the region feeling optimistic.
While the season's wet start caused some berries to ripen more quickly, the long summer days have been a blessing to the blueberry crop.
Many of the early varieties like Northlands and Toro are already at the end of their season.
Others, like Blue Jay and Jersey are starting to ripen earlier than usual.
Farmers also say the sunny weather will add more sugar, antioxidants and flavor to the berries.
