Local Man Save Daughter At State Fair

LYNDEN, Wash. -- A Bellingham man saved his daughter's life at the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden last Thursday night.

Joe Morris was getting some food at the fair at around 10:30 p.m. with his wife and 9-year-old daughter, when the girl started choking on a corndog.

Morris quickly began performing the Heimlich maneuver.

He says everyone around was "freaked out."

After giving her several breaths, Morris flipped his daughter upside down and gave her another breath, and that dislodged the food from her airway.

Morris learned the Heimlich maneuver in school and remembered the life saving technique when he had kids.

He says his daughter was shaken and scared but okay.
