SUMAS, Wash. -- A woman faces charges for assault and urinating in public after she allegedly hit a bus driver in the face. Whatcom Transportation Authority spokeswoman Maureen McCcarthy says Tawonna Hicks, a transient in her 40s, boarded the bus in Sumas Wednesday morning. Hicks began shouting profanities and making a disturbance on the bus, and the driver ordered her off. She hit the driver before exiting, cutting and bruising his face. McCarthy says drivers are trained in how to de-escalate problem passengers... She says assaulting a bus driver is very rare, and this may be the worse assault WTA has ever had. The accused incident of urinating in public did not happen on the bus.
