Tainted Ink Blamed For Tattoo Patrons' Infections
LYNNWOOD, Wash. (Metro) -- Health officials say a bacteria found in tattoo ink is the cause of skin infections developed by people who received tattoos last year at a Lynnwood parlor.
Michael Kinzer, who's an epidemic intelligence officer for the Centers for Disease Control, says investigators traced the bacteria to ink used to tattoo an Everett woman, a Bothell woman, and a person from King County.
Kinzer says the infection is slow to proceed.
He says there are currently no FDA regulations regarding tattoo ink, but that could soon change.
