Everett Surge Line Puts First 787 In Position

EVERETT, Wash. (Metro)  -- A temporary assembly line for 787 production is in place and running at Boeing's Everett plant, in hopes of boosting Dreamliner production to ten a month by the end of next year.

A company spokesman said yesterday that the first 787 moved into position on the line last Friday, with the hopes to ramp production in Everett to seven a month in 2013.

Boeing currently has unfilled orders for more than 800 Dreamliners, and also has a new 787 model that will begin assembly in 2014.

Boeing has delivered 17 of the jets to customers since FAA approval for the 787 was given a year ago.
