Hiker Rescued After Fall, Broken Leg



GLACIER, Wash. -- A hiker was rescued yesterday after falling and breaking her leg. 
 
Sixty-year-old Laurel Jones was hiking the Yellow Aster Butte Trail near Glacier when she slipped and suffered a compound fracture in her left leg.
 
Her husband was able to contact the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office at around 5 p.m.
 
Border Patrol officers in the area assisted Jones and her husband until Bellingham mountain rescue were able to respond. 
 
Jones was transported by helicopter to Bellingham International Airport and then by ambulance to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center for further treatment.
