CHARLOTTE, N.C.  (Metro)  --  A Democratic national convention delegate from Tacoma is rooting for a former Hawaii classmate. 

According to "The Seattle Times," Dean Ando went to private prep school with President Obama. 

Ando has photos of the two together as fifth and sixth-graders on his Facebook page. 

He says Obama wasn't interested in politics then, but was 'very smart." 

Ando is now on the state Democratic Party Central Committee.
