ROY, Wash. (Metro) -- Officials at Joint Base Lewis-McChord say a soldier was killed as he crashed his vehicle into an un-staffed security guard post at the east gate of the base.
Authorities say the car slammed into the guard shack around 4 a.m. yesterday and burst into flames.
The name of the driver has not been released, but he's identified as a soldier who was leaving the base at the time of the crash.
