Bellingham Teachers Safe After Violence In North Africa

TUNIS, Tunisi -- Four teachers from Bellingham are out of harm's way after rioters pillaged and burned a private school near a U.S. embassy in North Africa.

Bellingham High School principal Jeff Vaughn has received emails confirming that his daughter, Kaylee Vaughn, and three former BHS teachers working at the school are safe, according to the Bellingham Herald.

Demonstrators looted the school Friday during an attack on the American Embassy in the Tunisian capital of Tunis.

The U.S. State Department is urging Americans to leave the city, and has ordered all non-emergency American government workers out of Tunisia.

Anti-American sentiments are running high throughout the Muslim world after an anti-Islam film shot in the U.S. was released on Youtube.
