Officials Say No Toxic Algae Found In Lake Cavanaugh

LAKE CAVANAUGH, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Skagit County health officials say test results of water samples from Lake Cavanaugh show no blue-green algae toxins.

The tests were run after toxic blue-green algae was detected earlier this month in Heart Lake near Anacortes.

The health department is still urging residents to avoid swimming in or drinking from areas of Lake Cavanaugh where intense water color and surface scum are present.

Similar testing for toxins is being conducted on samples from Campbell Lake and Lake Erie.
