Crews Raise Sunken Vessel From Penn Cove
COUPEVILLE, Wash. (Metro) -- The old, derelict fishing boat that that sank after catching fire in Penn Cove three weeks ago is back on the surface at Whidbey Island.
Two large cranes pulled the burnt-out vessel the "Deep Sea" from 50 feet of water yesterday.
It will now be towed or barged to Seattle for salvage.
The 128-foot boat caught fire and sank May 12th, then began leaking fuel, which shut down the area's famous mussel beds.
