Vote Set On Lifting Restrictions On UW, WSU Investments

SEATTLE, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Washington voters are getting ready to decide on a constitutional amendment to let the University of Washington and Washington State University invest a portion of their reserve funds in private companies or stock.

The Legislature approved Senate Joint Resolution 8223 earlier this year, but it requires voter approval because it's a constitutional amendment.

Opponents tell "The Seattle Times" that the schools should be using that money to cut fast-rising tuitions.
