August Liquor Prices Lower Than June's

OLYMPIA, Wash.  (Metro)  -- The Washington State Department of Revenue says liquor prices across the state are lower than they were in June, when private retailers began selling spirits.

Officials say the average increase in June was 14.8 percent from June 2011.

The rate decreased through the summer, and liquor prices were 10.1 higher in August than in the same month last year.

Washington's liquor taxes remained in place after private liquor outlets took over sales from state-run liquor stores.
