State Patrol Emphasizing Risk Of Wet Roads

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The State Patrol continues to warn that this weekend's weather could cause treacherous driving conditions, and troopers say the time to prepare your vehicle for winter is now.

Trooper Keith Leary recommends that you carry some water and other emergency supplies in your vehicle just in case you get stuck and have to wait for a tow truck.

He says replace your windshield wipers if they are dried and cracked, and replace your tires if the tread is worn down.

The oil and grease that's built up on the roadway over the dry summer can become slick like black ice when the heavy rains return.
