Symphony, Opera Musicians Authorize Strike

SEATTLE, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Seattle may be about to get a musicians' strike.

The musicians of the Seattle Symphony and the Opera Players' Organization have authorized it after receiving a contract offer that calls for a 15 percent pay cut next season.

The musicians say they are unwilling to accept any more concessions.

"The Seattle Times" says the symphony has a balanced budget, but considerable debt.

The Opera lost $1 million last year.
