McKenna, who's Washington's attorney general, says he would bring in a new culture and a "fresh crew" to take the state in a different direction after 28 years of Democratic governors.
Inslee, a former congressman, says he would promote "lean management" and more efficient operation of state agencies.
One of the main points of contention among the candidates was the idea of a property tax "swap" proposal to shift some of the burden of funding education from the local to the state level, a plan that Inslee calls a "gimmick" but is backed by McKenna.
