Man Who Shot Canadian Border Guard Identified

BLAINE, Wash. -- We now know the name of the man who shot a Canadian border guard at the Peace Arch Port of Entry near Blaine.

The B.C. coroner's service says 32-year-old Andrew Michael Crews shot Officer Lori Bowcock in the neck as she sat in her inspection booth around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Crews then turned the gun on himself.

Hanna Scott with KOMO News Radio says Crews was as a tattoo artist from Bremerton who recently moved to the Seattle area.

Border officials are confirming that crews first shot the officer and then himself, contrary to prior reports.

Crews' motive is still unknown.

Canadian authorities have so far refused to give any interviews.

Burrock is expected to make a full recovery.

The Canada Border Services Agency says the Peace Arch Border crossing will reopen to northbound traffic this morning at 8.
