UW Raises In-State Undergraduate Tuition

SEATTLE, Wash.  (Metro)  -- In-state students will be paying more to attend the University of Washington.

The university Board of Regents has approved a 16-percent increase in in-state undergraduate tuition, raising the total to $12,401 a year.

UW officials say 30-percent of the increase will be set aside for financial aid for low-income resident undergraduates under the Husky Promise program.

Officials say middle-income students will get increases in their grant awards to mitigate the tuition hike.
