Family Of Canadian Border Guard Grateful, Optimistic

BLAINE, Wash.  (Metro)  -- The family of the Canadian border guard shot at Peace Arch this week says they are grateful that she is alive, and are optimistic that she will make a full recovery.

Officer Lori Bowcock remains in stable condition at Royal Columbian Hospital in B.C. Bowcock's family released a statement yesterday saying that "her positive outlook and sense of humor are shining through."

They thanked all of the first responders and medics that came to her aid.

Bowcock's family also says that their thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the shooter, Andrew Crews, who turned the gun on himself after shooting Bowcock as she sat in her inspection booth at the border.
