SEATTLE, Wash. (Metro) -- Federal prosecutors say Seattle real-estate magnate Michael Mastro and his wife, Linda, have been arrested in France after being on the run from the law for 16 months.
The Mastros face six counts of bankruptcy fraud, and are currently in the custody of French authorities.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says the couple vanished in June 2011 after the judge presiding over Michael Mastro's bankruptcy case ordered the couple to surrender two large diamond rings valued at $1.4 million.
Authorities allege that after entering bankruptcy, the Mastros failed to disclose a bank account to the court, then wrote checks on that account for about $285,000 to cover personal expenses.
