BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- So far, it’s looking like the port of Bellingham won’t be adding more commissioners, but the vote is close.
The port’s proposition one to boost its roster of commissioners from three to five is failing, with 51 percent opposing the measure.
Residents critical of the port’s firing of executive director Charlie Sheldon had begun collecting signatures to get the issue on the ballot earlier this year, when two of the port’s three current commissioners agreed to send it to voters.
