Initiative 1185 requiring a two-thirds majority of legislators to approve any tax increase is overwhelmingly passing with over 64 percent approval.
Two advisory votes against tax increases in Washington are also passing.
Jason Mercier with the Conservative Washington Policy Center says the passage of these anti-tax measures shows that Washington voters are fiscally-conservative, despite some liberal tendencies.
Mercier says this would be the fifth time voters in our state have approved a supermajority for tax increases.
He says his group would like to see the legislature end this debate once and for all by letting voters decide on a constitutional amendment requiring a supermajority for tax increases.
