Governor’s Race Still Up In The Air

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Local political parties are both holding out for their team's candidate to win the state governor's race.

Democrat Jay Inslee is still barely ahead of Republican Rob McKenna 51 to 49 percent.

Chair of the Whatcom Republicans Luanne Van Werven says they are hopeful that McKenna will pull ahead as the final votes are tallied, and the challenged ballots are sorted out.

Chair of the Whatcom County Democrats Mike Estes says they're confident that Inslee will hang onto his lead in the governor's race.

He says they're disappointed by the re-election of Vincent Buys and Jason Overstreet in the 42nd District covering most of Whatcom County.

Estes says local democrats are obviously excited about the re-election of Barack Obama for president.
