PULLMAN, Wash. (Metro) -- Washington State University has asked the Pac-12 conference to investigate claims by a former WSU football player that Coach Mike Leach and his staff have engaged in, quote, "physical, mental and emotional abuse."
The charge was leveled Saturday by receiver Marquess Wilson in a statement in which he said he was quitting the team.
Wilson had been suspended for Saturday's game after walking out of a workout.
WSU President Elson Floyd issued a statement yesterday saying he was asking the school's athletic department as well as the Pac-12 to conduct independent investigations into the allegation.
Coach Leach denied the accusation Saturday, and players asked about the charge either denied it or refused to comment.
