OLYMPIA, Wash. (Metro) -- In what may be her last major initiative before leaving office in January, Governor Christine Gregoire is formally urging Congress to require Internet and mail-order retailers to collect sales taxes.
Her effort is aimed mostly at out of state businesses that she says are hurting local brick and mortar stores.
Congress is now considering the Marketplace Fairness Act, which has supporters in both major parties.
