Questions Still Surround Pending Pot Legalization

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- If you hope to buy an ounce of pot on December 6, it will be harder than you think.

While state law will change to allow for possession of pot following the passage of initiative 502, it is still illegal to grow and sell it.

And while the new state law conflicts with federal law, Martin Nickerson, the head of Northern Cross Collective Dispensary in Bellingham, is confident that issue will be ironed out...

The state has one year to put a licensing system into place for legitimate growers and sellers.

While officials iron out the details, industry insiders like Nickerson express concern that the public may still be confused about how the law affects them, and cautions customers that only people with legitimate medical marijuana prescriptions will be able to obtain it at his Bellingham dispensary.
