Local Health Officials Recommend Flu Vaccines

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Are you prepared for an early arrival of flu season in Whatcom County?

While local health officials say that the flu in our area has not seen breakout levels yet, they recommend that people get vaccinated early.

County Health Officer Dr. Greg Stern says there is no better time than the present to get vaccinated.

This is National Influenza Vaccination Week, and the Centers for Disease Control is warning people that high levels of early flu cases across the Southeast could be a sign that this could be a severe season for people elsewhere.

Tennessee is one of the areas hardest hit by early flu outbreaks, and some schools have halted classes for several days as a result.
