Local Coffee Business Gets Statewide Recognition

SEATTLE, Wash. -- A small town coffee business gets honored with a big award in Seattle.

Whatcom County based The Woods Coffee was recently honored as one of the top business in the state at the 2012 Washington Family Business Awards.

The family-run coffee chain, which opened its new Barkley Village store yesterday, received a “silver” distinction in the midsize company category.

The Woods owner and family patriarch Wes Herman also says that the key to the family’s success is that everyone gets along and works toward common goals.

The Woods is the only Whatcom County business honored, and is featured in the December issue of Seattle Magazine.
