Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn says he supports exit exams for high school graduates, but he feels that five is too many and too expensive.
In January, Dorn will propose to the legislature that we reduce the five required tests to three: one on biology, one on algebra, and one for reading and writing.
Students in the class of 2012 were required to pass two exit exams in order to graduate.
Exit exams are estimated to cost the state about $30 each.
