Waterfront Redevelopment Inches Forward

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The redevelopment of the 237 acre Bellingham “Waterfront District” is one step closer to being a reality.

The city held a staff and volunteer event at city hall yesterday to celebrate the completion of a package of preliminary documents and plans outlining the community vision for the waterfront project.

The package will now be handed off to planning and community development officials.

Mayor Kelli Linville says the package will go through rigorous internal reviews before its submission to the planning commission as early as this coming spring.

The city and the port worked closely together to ensure that the package was completed before the end of the year.
