Bellingham Police Spokesman Mark Young says the mother, father and baby were in a restaurant in the 200 block of East Holly Street on Sunday when Daniel Bravo walked in and started staring at them.
Bravo was a total stranger to the couple.
They felt uncomfortable and left the restaurant.
Young says Bravo then ran after them and punched the baby with a closed fist.
Young says Bravo told arresting officers that the devil made him “hit the kid.”
He's facing charges of felony assault.
The baby was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, and then released to the parents.
