Liquefied natural gas could revolutionize the trucking industry thanks to a recent boom in domestic supply.
Rayola Dougher, Senior Economic Advisor of the American Petroleum Institute, is meeting this morning with the Washington Trucker's Association in Seattle.
She says liquid natural gas can cut fuel costs for local truckers, and the development of new fueling stations and other infrastructure would create jobs here in Washington.
She says liquid natural gas costs nearly half as much as diesel fuel and the lower fuel costs for trucking could result in a drop in prices for all trucked goods.
The use of liquefied natural gas could even reduce demand for oil, which would result in lower gas prices for all drivers.
