The Family Leave Benefit would be funded by a small tax on employees statewide and the state would administer the fund.
The law is set to go into effect next year, but some GOP legislators want to have it repealed, saying a new tax is unacceptable.
Supporters of the law say it will help single mothers and people who are sick take care of their families if they have to leave work for an extended period of time.
