Mukilteo, Edmonds To Challenge Allowance Of Paine Field Flights

Mukilteo, Wash.  (Metro)  -- The cities of Mukilteo and Edmonds, along with an activist group and two individuals, filed notice with the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals that they plan to challenge a federal decision to allow commercial flights at Everett's Paine Field.

A review by the Federal Aviation Administration determined last year that there would be no significant increase in noise, traffic, or air pollution in neighborhoods near the airport as a result of the 23 daily commercial flights proposed by Allegiant Air and Horizon Air.

Opponents say the environmental review did not take into account the potential for even more flights that could result from opening the airport to commercial air service.
