Brantley Gilbert, Jana Kramer dismiss award rivalry

Country star Brantley Gilbert and his fiancee Jana Kramer have laughed off rivalry rumors as they prepare to go head-to-head for the same prize at the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards.

Gilbert and Kramer, who became engaged in January, won the preliminary New Male Artist of the Year and New Female Artist of the Year honors respectively, and now advance to the fan-voted final New Artist of the Year pool.

Gilbert tells CMT.com, "I got asked, 'Who's going to bring home the next award?' And I said, 'You know what, it's going to the same house, so it don't (sic) really matter.'"

Kramer adds, "We're so different that it's not a competition, if that makes sense. If he were to win and I didn't, I support him 100 per cent. I might be bitter for like a second. I might be like, 'Maybe you could take me out to dinner and surprise me or something.' Just kidding!"

The duo is not the only couple vying for the same award at this year's ceremony - Blake Shelton and his singer wife Miranda Lambert have both received nods in the Entertainer of the Year category.

The 48th Annual ACM Awards, hosted by Shelton and Luke Bryan, will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 7.
