Lawmakers To Receive Tax Forecast

Olympia, Wash.  (Metro)  -- State lawmakers are awaiting the release this week of the state's forecast for tax collections.

It is information that is critical to legislative budget writers who are trying to determine how much money they can spend over the next two years.

One of the key elements is education spending, in light of the state Supreme Court's mandate that public schools be provided more funding.

Republicans and Democrats say they are ready to put more money into education, but offer different ways as to how that should be done.
