Convicted Killer Sentenced To Decade In Prison

kgmi@kgmi.com

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A Whatcom County Superior Court judge is following the recommendation of the prosecutor and defense attorney, sending a killer to prison for 10 years.

Nathan Goninan, 23, had earlier pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges.

He strangled Jessica Franklin, 17, to death in Bellingham in 2007.

This sentence won’t begin until after Goninan serves the remainder of a 10-year sentence in Oregon for crimes committed in that state.
