Outrage Over U2 Berlin Wall Concert

U2 fans are outraged over plans to restrict the view of the band's free concert in Berlin, Germany - after organizers decided to limit the number of people allowed to catch a glimpse of the Irish rockers.

The band is due to play in front of the Brandenburg Gate on Thursday to celebrate 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Bon Jovi are also slated to take the stage at the event, which is part of the MTV Europe Awards taking place in the city that night.

But MTV organizers have infuriated fans with plans to erect their own wall on the famous site - to keep out any fans who don't have tickets.

A spokesperson for Berlin’s city government says, "I find it rather unfortunate and unusual for organizers of a free concert - particularly one of this nature - to demand such a barrier."

But bosses at MTV have hit back - insisting the wall is needed for fans' own safety: "We are asking fans without tickets to watch the concert on television. The barrier is for security reasons and to contain the crowd, allowing the surrounding shops and restaurants to continue trading.”

Tickets for the gig were snapped up in just three hours.
