Third Count of Ballots, Some Races Too Close to Call

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. -- The same candidates who were leading after the first count of Whatcom County ballots continue to lead after the third count.

However, some races are still too close to call.

Just 510 votes now separate the leader Dan McShane from Kathy Kershner in a Whatcom County Council contest.

The gap between “yes” and “no” has widened to 518 votes for the apparently successful Whatcom County Library System’s property tax increase.

In one Ferndale City council race, Ken Downey has 17 more votes than Jon Mutchler and in another, Keith Olson is ahead of Brent Goodrich by 16 votes.

Results from the next ballot count will be available Friday afternoon.
