CUSTER, Wash. -- A memorial service is being held this week for a Whatcom County soldier who died in Afghanistan.
Ferndale High School graduate Aaron Aamot drove his Stryker vehicle over a buried explosive last Thursday.
The 22-year-old from Custer was in the 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division based at Fort Lewis.
Eight soldiers in the brigade were killed on a single day last week.
