Illegals Arrested in Mount Vernon Drug Sting

Mount Vernon, Wash. -- Immigration officials say they've arrested six illegal immigrants in Mount Vernon after agents descended on a trailer park.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesperson Lorie Dankers, says five men and one woman, ages 19 to 34, were taken into custody on Tuesday.

Dankers said agents arrested two people who are admitted members of the Sureno gang, including one person with a previous criminal history with firearms.

Deportation proceedings have begun for all six detainees.

A lawyer representing one of the men who was not a gang member says it's dangerous for I.C.E. agents to draw their guns in a public place where children may be present.

The trailer park is located near a middle school and community college. Attorney Carol Edwards says her client was driving in the trailer park, when agents with guns drawn stopped him and asked him about his immigration status.
