FERNDALE,Wash, -- A new plan presented in Ferndale on Thursday, will help officials care for birds in the event of an oil spill.
Two private, non-profit spill response groups worked closely with government agencies, wildlife response contractors, and the oil industry on the Mobile Oiled Wildlife Response Unit.
State Ecology spokesperson Curt Hart, says the unit can be sent anywhere in the state to rehabilitate 100 oiled birds within 24 hours of an oil spill, which they says is much better than current procedure.
