BELLINGHAM,Wash. -- The Bellingham City Council unanimously endorsed the upcoming ballot proposition to raise taxes for the Whatcom Transportation Authority.
The proposal for a two tenths of a percent sales tax increase came after WTA warned it may have to cut some bus routes or quit running on Sundays.
Former KGMI host Brett Bonner, chair of a political action committee against the proposal, told the council last night that this isn’t the time to raise taxes.
However, most speakers told the council they can’t let WTA cut services.
The tax increase proposal will appear before voters on an April 27th ballot.
