Port Proposes Changes to Street Plans for Waterfront

BELLINGHAM,Wash. -- The Port of Bellingham is changing the proposed street grid for the waterfront district.

There is more of an emphasis is being placed on alternative forms of travel such as transit and bikes.

Streets have been moved to allow the granary and alcohol plant buildings on the site to remain standing.

The new plan also calls for removing the Wharf Street railroad crossing by 2025.

The public can comment on the new proposal by going to the port’s website or by attending a March 3rd public hearing.

There is an opportunity to learn more at a Waterfront Advisory Group meeting tomorrow at 7:30 in the evening at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal.
